Windsor Forest Court is conveniently located less than a mile from the Royal Ascot Racecourse and the coffee shops, bars and restaurants of the buzzing high street, and only a short drive from a number of great local attractions.

 

Ascot Racecourse

Just a mile from Windsor Forest Court, Ascot Racecourse hosts 26 days of racing across the year, comprising of 18 flat meetings and 8 jump meetings. Royal Ascot, held in June each year, is the highlight of the British Summer racing calendar. Other major events include the Gold Cup, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

There are a number of family race-days which are usually hosted in March, July, October and a Christmas event in December.

Windsor Town Centre

Just 15 minutes from Mill Ride, Windsor Town Centre has a fascinating history, interesting buildings and fantastic parks. Windsor Castle is in the centre of the town and visitors can wander around the cobbled streets, finding a number of cafes, restaurants and pubs. On the banks of the Thames you will find lovely walks and some excellent places to stop for a drink or something to eat. Boat rides on the river will help you explore further afield and a short walk over the bridge will take you to Eton, home of the famous college.

 

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest occupied castle in the World. William the Conqueror founded the castle in the 11th Century and it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. The Queen uses the Castle for state occasions, official events and also stays there at weekends as a private residence. Exhibitions are held in the Queens Gallery and other events and performances take place here throughout the year. The Great Park has a rich history dating back to pre-Saxon times. Popular for walking, running or cycling, visitors have the chance to explore ancient forests, historical monuments and incredible horticultural displays and wildlife.

The Savill Garden

One of Britains best ornamental gardens. Guests can explore the 35 acres of classic and contemporary designed gardens and woodland which is an enclosed part of Windsor Great Park. The gardens include Spring, Summer and Autumn woods, the Azalea Walk, The Glades and The Rose Garden. The Savill Building is an award-winning visitor centre with various dining facilities. The building was opened in 2006 by H.R.H the Duke of Edinburgh who served as Ranger of Windsor Great Park for almost 70 years. The wooden grid shell architecture was designed by Clenn Howells and constructed from sustainable timber sources from within the Great Park. Less than 20 minutes from Windsor Forest Court, The Savill Garden is a fantastic place to visit in all seasons.

 

Legoland Windsor Resort

The most visited theme park in the UK which features rides, models and building workshops. Legoland Windsor Resort is a fantastic day out for the family, especially children aged between three and twelve. The park is divided into sections including Lego City, Duplo, Knights Kingdom, Ninjago World, Land of the Vikings. New for 2021, the Lego Mythica area features three major new attractions including the UK’s first flying theatre ride. Legoland is just a 12 minute drive from Windsor Forest Court.

Virginia Water

A fantastic location for walking, cycling or running, Virginia Water is popular all year round thanks to the scenic views around the lake and woodland lakeside paths. The area is home to the Wentworth Estate and Golf Club and has a rich history across centuries with evidence of this all around the 7km perimeter of the lake. The Water Pavilion Café provides light meals and refreshments with seating overlooking the lake. Virginia Water has several car parks and entrances, the closest being just 11 minutes from Windsor Forest Court.

 

Thorpe Park

One of the largest theme parks in the UK, Thorpe Park continues to grow with new attractions, rides and facilities being added regularly. Rides and experiences include the UK’s fastest roller coaster, Stealth and the UK’s first winged roller coaster, The Swarm. Braver visitors can try the world’s first ten-loop roller coaster over a record breaking 850m track on Colossus. Younger visitors can enjoy the Angry Birds 4D experience and Amity Beach, an area exclusively for families with young children which provides a paddle pool, beach and water slides (dependent on weather). Thorpe Park is 11 miles from Windsor Forest Court.

The Lexicon shopping centre

One of the newest retail developments in the UK, The Lexicon is a large shopping centre featuring open and covered street with three landscaped town squares. Two department stores, numerous retailers, cafes, restaurants and a 10 screen cinema mean there is something for everyone at this contemporary and well designed centre.

 

Smiths Lawn

One of the most famous places in the world to watch polo, Guards Polo Club is 20 minutes from Windsor Forest Court. Situated within Windsor Great Park, the club was founded by HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The club is host to over 500 matches a season, including some of the biggest tournaments such as the Cartier Queen’s Cup, Royal Windsor Cup, Duke of Wellington Trophy and the Autumn Nations Trophy.

 

Further Afield

With excellent travel links, Windsor Forest Court provides guests with the opportunity to explore some of the great locations and cities in the South of the UK. London is easily reached by train or car in under and hour for a day of sightseeing, shopping or visiting the tourist attractions or theatres. The historic city of Oxford is just an hour away by train or car.
